The implementation of technical services has finally been approved by the department of expenditure in the Finance Ministry bringing much relief to members of the Technical Staff Association (TSA) of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE). The matter was pending since the fourth Central Pay Commission, and Technical Staff Association (TSA) of the Forest Research Institute and other sister institutes of ICFRE had been acting consistently for securing the approval desired. The association stated that sincere efforts by the Director General of Forests and Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Sharad Singh Negi- who has also served as the director of the Forest Research Institute here in Dehradun for seven years- played a crucial part in resolving the issue. Consequently, the benefits are expected to be two pronged-one by implementation of recommendation of Work Measurement Committee (WMC) which suggested enhanced pay scales for technical staff and other by ensuring regular assessments and promotions at par with Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt of India. TSA representatives recently met Negi and other officials concerned to express their gratitude for facilitating the development.
