Preparations will soon be completed for commemorating the land Consolidation Day at the town hall in Dehradun on March 8. Kunwar Singh Bhandari of the Garib Kranti Abhiyan said this while addressing the media here on Wednesday.
He said that the main demand behind creation of Uttarakhand was facilitating the development of the mountainous region so that the people could secure employment in their native place. However, since creation of Uttarakhand State, numerous villages have become deserted due to migration of the people to the plains and towns.
“Various government schemes were introduced to stop this migration but no effective long term solution has been implemented. There is immense potential in the agriculture sector in our mountain State but the biggest hindrance is the scattered farms. This can be resolved by land consolidation and the Government should draft an action plan for this without further delay,” he informed.
