The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) and its regional associations made a contribution of Rs 52 lakh towards Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

In the Presence of the Uttarakhand Tourism Minster Amrita Rawat and Tourism Secretary Umakant Panwar, a delegation led by Garish Oberoi, President Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India and other office bearers met Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna to present the cheque for the relief work. The CM said that though the disaster had caused considerable damage in different areas of Uttarakhand, many tourist and religious destinations including Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Nainital, Haridwar, Ranikhet and Kausani among others were undamaged and safe for visitors.

The association representatives sought relaxation in taxes for the hospitality industry in disaster affected areas to make up for the loss sustained by hotels and restaurants in the disaster last month. Public representatives and Government officers were also present on the occasion.
