Demanding the withdrawal of marketing discipline guidelines, All India lPG Federation, Uttarakhand, has decided to stop home delivery of cylinders from February 20. The association president Chaman lal warned that they will carry out indefinite strike from February 25 if Central Government and Oil Company do not address their demand immediately.
Chaman lal further said that a meeting was held recently among the distributors and they had decided to stop home delivery of lPG cylinders to the customers from February 20 and start an indefinite strike from February 25 in the State. The main demand is the withdrawal of MDG, which has purportedly curbed lPG distributors' rights. The federation has demanded immediate relief from the tight grip of the oil and marketing companies. The guidelines levy stiff financial penalties. Neither oil marketing companies nor the minister concerned has any authority under any law to levy such penalties, he added.
He further said that MDG provides a platform for corruption to lower level officials responsible to review distributors. At present, each distributor is allowed only 12,000 refills. The federation is demanding to increase this number by 16,000. The federation is also not in favour of appointment of fresh distributors as the move may hamper their business. The federation has also demanded that its profit limit be increased, he added.
