Fed up with repeated neglect of their demand for release of recruitment advertisement for all the vacant posts of primary teachers, the Federation of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)/ Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualified candidates has decided to intensify its agitation. The members of the federation are sitting on a Dharna at State education directorate from last 98 days. On Sunday the federation resolved to intensify its agitation and released their schedule of agitation which it has planned for the next seven days.
On Monday the members of federation would hold a mass fast at the State education directorate. On day two the unemployed candidates would try to seek the attention of State Government by holding a “Maun Vrat” at the same destination. On February 03, the agitators would organize a cleanliness drive in the directorate. On February 04 the federation would take out a “Silent rally” from Gandhi Park to Clock Tower. Similarly on day five, a candle march would be taken out on the above mentioned route. On February 06 the federation has planned to organize a mass one day sit in front of the Yamuna Colony residence of education minister Mantri Prasad Naithani.
The State President of the association, Manvir Rawat said that the federation is going to intensify the agitation as the State Government is not paying any heed to our demand of release of recruitment advertisement for 6200 posts of primary teachers.
He threatened that the frustrated members of the agitation can take extreme steps and State Government would be solely responsible if hitherto peaceful agitation takes a violent turn. Rawat said that federation was assured by the Chief Minister and education officials that the advertisement for vacant posts would be released but with March 31 deadline drawing close the patience of unemployed is fast waning.
It is pertinent to mention here that the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has given the above mentioned deadline to the State Government till which it can appoint B.Ed. qualified candidates in the primary schools of the State.
The NCTE had directed that after March 31, only candidates having Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) would be eligible for being appointed as primary teachers. There are more than 25000 B.Ed./ TET qualified candidates in the state who would be rendered not eligible for being employed as primary teachers. These youths are now putting pressure on the state government release recruitment advertisement for all the vacant posts of primary teachers. They claim that if the vacant posts and those expected to be vacant after promotions and retirement in this year are added than a figure of 6200 posts is coming up.
