Residents in various colonies are spending sleepless nights in various areas following the rumours about presence of Kachcha Baniyan gangs. Such is the terror that citizens are on guard by waking up night long.
Though police rebuff presence of any such gang, calling it as merely a rumour, locals are not ready to digest the fact. Tilak Road, Patelnagar, Nehru Colony, Clement Town and Vasant Vihar are the areas where the rumour gave a harrowing time to the locals. Khurbura resident Vijay Kumar Dwivedi said that several people of my localities did not sleep night long to keep a watch due to fear of the said gang.
He further added that several talks about the gang were doing round. He said that the rumour said that the gang members move in group and they loot the houses after killing the family members. Moreover, SP City Jagdish Chandra called the talks as baseless. “There is no such gang present in Patelnagar, Nehru Colony, Clement Town and Vasant Vihar areas. This is all rumour. People need not to pay ear to such words,” the SP city said.
He further added that police patrolling has been intensified during night in these areas. local residents have been advised to form a Gram Swaraksha Samiti so that along with police, this Samiti member can conduct night patrolling in their respective area. The residents of these areas have been asked to dial 100 or phone numbers of local police station or police post if they find such gang members. Moreover, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Dinesh Aggarwal along with the Dehradun SSP conducted an inspection of several areas during Tuesday night. They also met the people who are spending sleepless nights in fear of notorious Rskachcha baniyanRs gang.
The SSP later said that these are rumours which were being spread by some anti-social elements. Those involved in spreading such rumours would be dealt with sternly. He said that the teams have been deployed to expose the elements spreading the rumours.
