Faulty MRI machine at DMC to take 13-15 more days to repair

Published on:

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine of the associated hospital of Doon Medical College (DMC) here which broke down on March 9 could take at least 13-15 days to get repaired.

It is learnt that the Phillips India limited, the company which installed the machine and holds the maintenance contract of the error prone machine is seriously thinking on changing the entire magnet assembly of the machine. In that case the machine could take at least two weeks to get repaired as the entire assembly would be imported from Netherlands. The in charge of the machine, Mahendra Bhandari said that if the engineers decide against replacing the magnets then the machine would be repaired in lesser time period.

The error prone machine is causing much discomfort to the administration of the biggest hospital of the State. The machine had developed snags three times in last year alone.  The radiology dept of the Doon hospital is the only facility in the Government sector in Dehradun where the MRI machine is installed.
