Technical know-how is necessary for the production of high quality seeds. This in turn affects the national food grain production, said the Uttarakhand Seeds and Terai Development Corporation (USTDC) MD Dr PS Bisht while addressing farmers at the Sitarganj Mandi Samiti hall.
Speaking at the farmers’ meet organised here, he said that from this year the Government has discontinued the grant on old crop varieties which poses problems in the sale of their seeds. To avoid this problem, the farmers should use latest crop varieties which are disease resistant and have higher productivity.
He further informed that this year the corporation has started an online payment facility for farmers which will now save the farmers the trouble of unnecessarily visiting the corporation’s head office or regional offices. He exhorted the farmers to enhance seed production in order to gain increased economic benefit.
