Though the police have arrested Ramesh Bhatt for alleged Maoist activities, his family members and neighbours insist that he has nothing to do with left wing extremism. At his home in Halduchaud, his family members and neighbours state that he is a simple man who did little more than his job at a private company in Kiccha where he has been working for about 12 years now. Bhatt who also has a wife and two children is referred to as an introvert by his neighbours. One of his three elder brothers, Gopal Bhatt was held in the past for alleged Maoist activities and is currently out on bail. He has been cleared in two of the cases while one case is pending in court. Gopal Bhatt said, “I am shocked at my brother’s arrest. The cops are trying to frame him in a fabricated case. In the past even I was wrongfully arrested by the police who accused me of being involved in Maoist activity. My only fault was that I used to follow the Marxist ideology but my brother doesn’t even do so.”
