Families from UP come to Dehradun, say police

Meanwhile, some families being persecuted in their native villages in Uttar Pradesh have migrated to several places in Dehradun district like ISBT, Premnagar, Selaqui and Rajpur and others in the district.

Stating this, a senior police officer said on Monday that most of them have come from Bijnor and Saharanpur districts of UP following the communal and caste distemper. “They are mostly taking shelter at the residences of their relatives and friends,” he said.  He added that though verification drive was being conducted from time to time in such areas the information about the migrants being provided by the police stations of other states from where they hail is not authentic in most of the cases.

“Besides, we receive information much late and even then they prove to be mostly incorrect and incomplete. We, on our part, are however, doing everything to maintain peace while keeping vigil on those coming here, seeking shelter,” he said.
