Fall of Rawat Govt was inevitable: Nishank

Published on:

Tearing into the now deposed  Harish Rawat dispensation, Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘Nishank’ said on Tuesday that the fall of the Government was inevitable, given the fact that it was steeped in falsehood.

“Retributive justice was bound to step in as the Harish Rawat Government was engaged in rolling out  false promises to the people. There was no development on the ground,” said the senior  BJP leader while addressing a press conference.

Debunking the previous Government’s claim of all –round development of the State under it, he said that the reverse was true. To bolster his point, he showed a photocopy of a booklet by Niti Ayog.

He claimed that the  GSDP production in agriculture sector had been dropping with the volume of revenue deficit reaching a whooping figure. “The Harish Rawat Government had no policy, mission or vision. law and order was crumbling. The people are relieved that the government is gone,” he said.

Comparing his  rule with that of Rawat, he said that he had taken the State to number  three position among the States while under  the Rawat  government it had nosedived to 18th in the ladder. “My village  in Haridwar commands respect from one and all in terms of development,” he said.

Rubbishing  the Congress charge that  BJP had instigated  the defection,  Nishank  said his party had had no role in the internecine warfare  that  cost  the Congress its Government.

Asked whether a new Government would come up during the remainder of the present Assembly’s term, he  evaded an answer, saying that time would decide.
