The faculties of the Government aided colleges, including DAV (PG) College, DBS (PG) College, MKP (PG) College and SGRR (PG) College will have to develop teaching plans for completing academic syllabuses in their respective colleges.

Now, these faculties will have to record their attendance twice a day. In this regard, State Government has issued an order for all the Government aided colleges. DAV (PG) College principal Devendra Bhasin said that the college teaching staff may pursue the State Government for making changes in GO but Government’s GO will be strictly implemented in the college from January 20, 2014.

State Additional secretary higher education Radhika Jha said recently that the Government will take all the possible steps for improving educational atmosphere in the government and aided colleges of the State. The departmental action will be taken against college teaching and non-teaching staff if they found absent during surprise inspection conducted by education officers in their respective colleges, she added.

Moreover, in regards to GO, the office bearers of several college teachers unions criticised the Government’s GO and demanded its withdrawal without delay. According to them, college facilities have been working more than five hours in a day if you add college teaching staff’s working hours like lecture preparation hours, official works, examination related works and others in the college.

The State Government cannot appoint nodal officer for conducting inspection in government and aided colleges which are violation of college management system. According to them, University Grants Commission (UGC) has not released such guidelines for its colleges. Meanwhile, the Government has maximum fixed 15 days in a year for college teachers to attend their national seminar or workshops.

College principal has been made responsible for college related activities. Higher education director will sanction leave for college principal and such information should be provided to district magistrate concerned. The college principal will keep record of all the college expenses. The principal has been directed to take steps for promoting academic atmosphere and research related activities in their respective colleges. The college principals have been directed to ensure that students are carrying college identity card in the campus.
