Examinees cover 15 km distance on foot

Published on:

Residents of various villages had to cover a distance of about 15 kilometres on foot to appear in the Patwari examination to be conducted on Monday.

As the motor road was blocked due to snowfall on the weekend night, youngsters from Rautu ki Beli, Almas, Bhavaan and other villages in the area walked more than a dozen kilometres from Suvakholi to Dhanaulti to sit for the examination. Some of the students- SK Negi and Vijay Singh said that they thought it better to not take a chance with a career opportunity and cover the distance on foot fearing delay in reopening of the motor road.

In the meantime, the snow had been cleared off the link roads too in the area by evening to provide some relief to the public.
