Ex-servicemen hold rally against District Sainik Kalyan Board

The ex-servicemen vented their anger against the District Sainik Kalyan Board by organising a rally at the office of district collector on Tuesday. The ex-servicemen under the banner of Personnel Below Officer Rank (PBOR), ex-servicemen Welfare Association assembled at the katchari on the day and marched to the office of district magistrate.

The President of the association, Shamsher Singh PTR said that earlier appointments of honorary Captains rank retired armed forces personnel were made on the post of district sainik kalyan officer but after the year 1992, this post was captured by retired officers.

He charged these officers of adopting a dictatorial attitude toward PBOR and being partial in their actions. He said that now authority of deputy sainik Kalyan officer is also undermined due to which the retired armed forces personnel visiting the sanik kalyan office face problem when the officer is on leave.

The President of the association said that sanik kalyan offices have also stopped the earlier practice of holding camps in remote areas for armed forces veterans. Singh said that the State Government should look in the matter with concern and if no curative action is taken then the PBOR ex-servicemen would be forced to start an agitation.

The other speakers on the occasion also raised the issue of vehicle parking at the office of District Sainik Kalyan in Dehradun. They claimed that earlier the ex servicemen were allowed to park their vehicles in this parking space but now the main gate of this parking is kept close due to which ex servicemen coming from far flung areas face problems.
