The Uttarakhand Ex-servicemen league, an association of armed forces veterans has strongly condemned the action of Delhi police to detain the family members of Subedar Ram Kishan who allegedly committed suicide as he was unhappy with the Government for not implementing the OROP. One of a member of the association Brigadier Vipin Nautiyal (Rtd) told mediapersons here on Thursday that all veterans are anguished over the reported detention and ill treatment of the family members of Ram Kishan. He said that the union government is falsely claiming that it has implemented OROP. Colonel B S Cheema (Rtd) said that what the government has given is actually one rank five pension and not OROP and there is big resentment among the ex servicemen of the country over non implementation of OROP. He called for parity between the officers of the army with those of other services and claimed that ex servicemen want that the government should restore their honour. The Patron of Hamara Uttarakhand Manch (HUM), Anoop Nautiyal was also present on the occasion.
