Ex-CM questions CISF deployment at 9 dissident MlAs' houses

Continuing his attack on the BJP-led Union Government, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday questioned the propriety of deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to guard the residences of nine rebel MlAs of Congress. Speaking at a Press conference at his Bijapur guest house residence, the former CM lambasted the BJP accusing it of the murder of democracy in Uttarakhand.

He said the both houses of parliament were adjourned sine die and after that President’s rule was imposed in Uttarakhand. Rawat objected to this step of Union Government and questioned as to what were those extraordinary conditions prevailing in the country which prompted the Union Government to take this unprecedented step.

Taking a dig at BJP Government for deploying CISF at the residences of rebel MlAs when they were not even in their houses he said that the central force is which is mandated to provide security to industrial establishments is being deployed to guard what treasure or antiques or national wealth. Rawat said that it is more interesting that under the President’s rule CISF is deployed ostensibly to protect rebel MlAs.

He further claimed, “Political sharpshooters of BJP and some other people travelled to state capital from New Delhi in a motorcade of four Honda City cars escorted by the CISF last week. It is a common perception that these sharpshooters brought loads of money with them.’’

When asked to elaborate about these ‘sharpshooters’ the former CM said that BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya had himself claimed recently that he has shot the nine congress MlAs.  In response to a question on rebel Congress leader Vijay Bahuguna’s notice to him on defamation, Rawat said that he has not received any legal notice so far.

On the President’s rule Rawat said that at present the Governor enjoys all the powers of the Government and it is expected of him that he would implement the decisions taken by the State Cabinet in past as it is his constitutional obligation. Rawat said that his government had made all the budgetary provisions for the sanctioned projects and schemes.

He claimed that malicious actions of the Union government resulted in non utilization of allotted funds in the year 2015-16 due to which the interests of the State are being adversely affected.
