Police facing flak for failing miserably to regulate traffic resulting in the hapless commuters facing their daily ordeal on the roads, State DGP BS Sidhu told an interesting anecdote to laud the role CPU in enforcing traffic rules across the city. Sidhu said the CM Harish Rawat had recently narrated an incident to him wherein the hawk-eyed CPU had slapped his daughter with a challan for wrongly parking her vehicle. “Her daughter had called the CM up, stating that CPU had imposed challan on her. The CM asked her daughter to pay the penalty in case she had violated the traffic rules without using the name of her father. She admitted having transgressed the rules and left after clearing the due without making the least fuss,” Sidhu said.
He said CPU-supposed to be his dream project- is keeping a hawk-eyed vigil on the traffic violations. “They are unsparing whether the violators are VIPs or not. They would remain so because they are mandated to be so,” the State’s top cop said.
