With the mood of the Holi gripping the entire valley here, the mercury, which had plunged during the start of week with seasonal rains and snow at higher reaches, too seems to play sport with the Holi revellers.
The weather now in Doon valley and neighbouring areas is perfect for a cheerful and fun filled Holi. On Friday, Holi was celebrated in many Government and private institutions of the city. The schools which had the last working day on Friday before the Holi vacations celebrated the festival of colours with gusto. The parents of the kids were surprised to see their wards return home fully covered with colours. Many social organisations like Kurmachal Parishad, Hamari Pahechan and others are also hosting Holi celebrations.
The emphasis of these organisations is to preserve the traditional way of celebrating Holi; the Kumaoni Holi for instance is being celebrated in many places of the city.
