The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said that he had directed the State Director General of Police BS Sidhu to ensure a proper inquiry of the allegations of sexual assault and exploitation made against the additional secretary, Home, JP Joshi.
Replying to questions by media persons about the case in Dehradun on Sunday, Bahuguna said that no-one is above the law, be it a political leader, officer or common man.
Stating that maintaining law and order in the State was among his top priorities, the CM said that he had directed the DGP to ensure a proper inquiry in the case.
It will be recalled that a woman has lodged an FIR in Delhi accusing Joshi of sexually assaulting, exploiting and blackmailing her in the name of giving her a job.
Joshi, too, has lodged an FIR in Dehradun against three persons including the woman, accusing them of blackmailing and defaming him.
