End to repeated land sale in Nainital still a far cry?

Published on:

Repeated sale of the same piece of land by the land mafia and emergence of illegal colonies seem to be rampant in Nainital despite Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s strict directions to the district administration officials to curb such illegal activity way back in  February this year.

The district administration Nainital has not ruled out sale of the same land many times in the district.

Deepak Rawat, district magistrate, Nainital said that  they are receiving  several such complaints.  “We have thus asked the officials to maintain proper record after registry of lands. The illegal practice of selling the same land may a time is bringing   bad name for the district,” he added.

At the  same time,  emergence of illegal colonies across Nainital district is also worrying the district administration.

Speaking on this issue, DM  said that no one would be allowed to encroach Government land.

“The district  administrative machinery would strictly maintain vigil to stop it. In case any such case comes to light the officials concerned must account for it,”  he asserted.

like mining mafia, land mafia is also ruling the roost across the state.  Taking a serious note of land mafias selling and reselling the same plots of lands, CM asked  the officials through video conferencing (VC) in February to formulate a strong mechanism to  stamp out bogus registries of the same land or property in the state.
