The cracking of whip by the State Government on the agitation of the State Government employees yielded some result as the contractual workers of Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) resumed emergency duties in the hospitals of the State. The work boycott by the Joint Forum of the employees, however, continued for the second consecutive day which affected normal work in all the Government offices. Patients in various Government hospitals of the State received some relief as UPNl workers resumed work in emergency medical services.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, the State administration released the official minutes of the meeting held between the leaders of the Joint Forum and the State Finance Minister Prakash Pant on Monday. The spokesperson of the Joint Forum of employees, Arun Pandey told The Pioneer that forum has received the official minutes of the meeting held between them and the Minister. He said that they would decide their future course of the agitation on Wednesday.

Continuing with the protest, a large number of workers gathered at Parade Ground in Dehradun on Tuesday while boycotting their official works. They resolved to continue their agitation till their demands are accepted by the Government.

It is learnt that the leaders of the agitating employee would announce their official stance on the work boycott after the meeting is held on Wednesday. However, sources said that the employees are not happy with the Government as besides the U health card, most of their demands have been rejected.

Major demands of the employees

The employees are demanding the benefit of three Assured Career Progression (ACP). Another demand  is that the teachers on Grade Pay Rs 4600 should be provided a basic salary structure of Rs  17140. They further want that the ACP should be given with promotion at the end of 10, 16, 26 years of service and for power corporation workers this benefit should be given at the end of 9, 14 and 19 years of service. They also want benefit of all allowances as per the provision of VII pay commission. The State Government employees want that they should be brought under U- health card scheme and pending arrears under VII pay commission should be paid without delay. The Joint Forum insists that all female employees who have crossed the age of 50 and male workers who are more than 52 years of age should be exempted from the provision of Transfers Act. They also want that the Indu Kumar Pandey wage committee should be scrapped.
