Even as the State Election Commission gave Sunday, March 9, as the last opportunity day, eligible voters who tried to get their names enrolled in their respective area electoral rolls faced a tough time in some polling booths here due to certain bureaucratic hurdles.
They alleged that in some pockets officials concerned demanded affidavit for inclusion of names in the voter list and in some other booths respective BlOs, accepted the Form-6 for enrolling names of only new voters aged between 18 years and 25 years.
They further charged BlOs informed them for filing affidavit to get their names enrolled in the electoral roll, they allegedly said.
The matter of concern is that in some booths including booth number 66 and booth number 88 of the Kaladhungi assembly constituency the respective BlOs were not present, Mayank Bisht, allegedly said. Though we took up the matter with the senior officials concerned of the Nainital district administration, it is to be seen whether all the eligible voters who had gone to their respective area polling booths, became able to get their names enrolled or not in the voter list, he added.
It may be recalled that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, Sunday, March 9, 2014 was given as a last opportunity to the eligible voters who have so far not been able to get their names enrolled in the voter lists to do so, starting of the 2014 general elections process.
After March 9, 2014, there will no inclusion of names in the electoral roll, as the officials concerned informed. However, the BlOs have also been directed to make error free photo electoral roll.
