Representatives of the Haldwani electricity department under the banner of the Vidyut Adhikari-Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti (VAKSSS) took out a rally here on Tuesday in protest against alleged ‘misbehaviour’ by the members of the Devbhumi Byapar Mandal, Rudrapur with the officials concerned of the Rudrapur (Udham Singh Nagar) power department on May 17 and demanded immediate arrest of the suspects in this case.
The agitating Power Department officials were of the view that despite lodging an FIR against them in the respective local Rudrapur Police Station, no arrest of the members of the Devbhumi Byapar Mandal, Rudrapur, has taken place so far.
In case the suspects are not arrested within 36 hours, we would be compelled to launch agitation in the entire Kumaon Division, said U D Pant, General Secretary of the VAKSSS.
More so, in case no action is taken against the suspects, we would boycott Chief Minister’s meeting on June 9, he added. The agitating members later also handed over a memorandum in this regard to the SDM office here today.
Among the members of the VAKSSS who were present on this occasion include D C Pathak, K K Pant, Deepak Pathak, K C Tiwari, Bhuwan Bhatt, B S Adhikari, S C Kapil to name a few.
