With important Tharali assembly by –elections and elections of Urban local Bodies (UlB) around the corner, the State Government employees and contractual workers of different Government departments have upped the ante for their long pending demands. More than 40 different employee organisations of Uttarakhand have joined hands to form a joint forum .
On May 18, joint forum has convened a massive demonstration at Parade ground. Thousands of teachers, other government employees and outsource employees are expected to gather on the day to put pressure on the government to accept their demands.
Apart from the joint forum, the workers of the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) and sanitation workers are also on warpath on the issues of permanent recruitment and minimum wages. The strike of the sanitation workers entered ninth day on Monday.
On Monday, the joint forum held a gate meeting outside the ITI Niranjanpur . Addressing the workers, the general Secretary of Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh, Sohan Singh Majila said that teachers in their entire career are not getting the benefit of three ACP and promotion.
The fact that different organisations have come under one roof for their demands underlies the general belief that state government could be pressurized as it is facing the Tharali by elections Further the elections of UlBs are also expected to be held soon though the issue is in legal tangles.
