Dehradun police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of historic Nagar Parikarma of Jhanda Mela scheduled on Sunday. Dehradun SP city Ajay Singh said on Saturday that police station officers have been directed to deploy additional forces during the Nagar Parikarma in their jurisdictional limits.
Thousands of people are expected to participate in the procession. Police station officers and intelligence staff have been put on alert. Moreover, a special ‘Mela Thana’ (Fair Police Station) has been opened. Two platoons of PAC (male) and one platoon PAC (female) have been kept reserved for the security of the Jhanda Mela. Besides, one police station officer, nine sub-inspectors, three assistant sub-inspectors, seven head-constables, 45 constables (male), 10 constables (female), eight traffic policemen and 18 home-guards would be deployed to ensure security, he added.
