The Education Minister of Uttarakhand Arvind Pandey would undertake surprise inspection of Government schools of the State from July 01 and would match the report submitted by the officials concerned for that school with what he observed. This information was given by the Minister while undertaking a review meeting of education department officials at State secretariat on Thursday.
He suggested that the deputy education officers and block education officers should divide the schools of a block among themselves and undertake extensive and regular inspections of the schools. The inspection reports would be sent by these officials to the education directorate where quarterly review meetings would be held. The Minister warned that he would take action against the official concerned if any difference in his observation and report submitted is observed.
In the meeting, the Minister termed taking back of the proposed budgetary cut on education in the budget session as a historic achievement and congratulated the officers of the department for it. He said that efforts should be made for bringing in qualitative improvement in the education and ensuring that all eligible students get the benefit of universal Right to Education (RTE).
Pandey also highlighted the importance of maintaining constant rapport with the parents on these issues. In an important decision the minister on demand of Block education officers ordered the Director General (DG) education to provide vehicles to them for inspection of schools. In a stern order the minister said that all attachment of employees should be immediately cancelled and attached workers should be sent to their schools. He warned of harsh punitive action against the officers where attachments would be noticed.
Pandey sought information on the orders on Capitation fees, caution money, readmission fees and action taken against the private schools not following the order. He praised the offices of Dehradun for reining in the famed private schools on readmission fees and refund of caution money orders. He also reviewed action taken against the school who force parents to purchase books, stationery or uniform from a particular shop. Pandey sought the list of teachers and employees who get the house rent of the place they are posted but reside long distances away from the schools.
The minister also sought details of the vacant posts of teachers in primary education department and asked the DG to appoint teachers in vacant posts of teachers. He directed the officials to undertake inspection of site allotted for setting up centralized kitchens under Akshay Patra Yojna in Roorkee and Dehradun. Under the scheme hot mid day meal (MDM) would be served to the students.
He also asked the officers to prepare for the measles rubella vaccination programme of WHO.
