The Uttarakhand State Higher Education Minister, Dhan Singh Rawat has asked Pauri District Magistrate to constitute an enquiry committee to conduct the enquiry of the controversy of the shifting of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar in district Pauri. The Pauri district magistrate Sushil Kumar has said that the Minister has verbally instructed him to constitute the enquiry committee. Already Garhwal Member of Parliament major general (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri has written a letter to the Union Human Resource Development Minister seeking a high level and time bound inquiry in the delay of the construction of permanent building of NIT in Sumadi. If reliable sources are to be believed, the State Minister Dhan Singh Rawat and the Garhwal MP BC Khanduri may also meet the Union Human Resource Development Minister sometime later this week to pursue this issue. Some aver that the NIT registrar is to blame for the confusion as the official has not provided necessary information about the NIT controversy to the State Government so far.
