The education department has started taking tough action on teachers who were missing from their duties for long. The services of 45 such teachers of Tehri district were terminated when the Director General of School Education D Senthil Pandian took a review meeting of district education officers recently.
Out of these 45 terminated teachers, 25 are from secondary schools while 20 were primary teachers. The DG had taken strong exception of the lenient attitude of the senior education department officers on the teachers who are absconding from their duties without information.
In the review meeting, the DG ordered disciplinary action against District Education Officer/district project officer (RMSA) on charges of double payment to the Kasturba Gandhi residential school and constructing girls’ hostel 40 km away from the proposed place at Rasol Tehri.
The DG also ordered departmental action against some other officers. Pandian asked the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) to conduct regular monitoring, review and evaluation of the activities of Block Resource Coordinator (BRC) and Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRC).
The DG ordered to hand over letters of felicitation to primary teachers Savitri Chauhan, Revashri, Meena Bhandari and Kusum Nautiyal for exceptional work.
