The Gram Pradhan of the Block Pauri at Pauri district has served a memorandum to the Chief Minister,in which he has brought to the notice of the head of the State Government that the villagers are facing problems in getting copy of family register in the system of e-governance.
The system of e-governance has many defects due to which the villagers have to bear problems, including financial ones, the memorandum said. The memorandum signed by the Gram Pradhan of Gram Sabha Palsain, Gram Panchayat Kandai,Gram Sabha Malgaon, block panchayat member Kandara, Mahabir Singh Negi and others stated that the villagers have to trudge to the block headquarters for getting the family register copy through the system of e-governance. However, they often return empty -handed due to non- availability of net connectivity, power outages, shortage of employees and the fault during of the feeding and the like.
The villagers approach the block headquarters many times and consequently they lose their daily wages. Besides, such travels undertaken from time to time involve expenses that are large enough for the poor villagers.
It was stated in the memorandum that e-governance system, though good, cannot prove useful unless it is enforced from the gram sabha level. It was suggested that the old procedures should be in force till e-governance reaches out down to the gram sabha level.
It is also alleged that Rs 30 is taken from each of the villagers for the copy of family register in e-governance system, but no receipt is being given against the sum thus deposited.
