The existing conflict between the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari at Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD), Ashok Kumar and Dehardun Mayor, Vinod Chamoli went to another level when Mayor asked Kumar to leave his cabin when Kumar went to meet him to discuss sanitation arrangement related issues.
Notably, the notice period of Doon Valley Waste Management (DVWM) was completing on March 2 and the company has decided to quit the sanitation work from this month onwards. When asked about it, Siddharth Jain CEO of Doon Valley Waste Management (DVWM) said that now they are handing over the sanitation responsibility to MCD and won’t continue it anymore.
Notably, Jain also went along with MNA to meet and discuss the issue with Mayor and both of them were sent out of the Mayor cabin. Mayor said that they should better go and meet the state government, discuss the issue and seek for the proper solution in it. He said that he don’t have to say anything regarding the Solid Waste Management project (SWM).
Notably, the sanitation arrangement of the town would be negatively affected by this decision of the company as the ambitious SWM project has turned to be failure in the State capital. It must be mentioned here that the company hasearlier submitted its final termination letter to the MCD on January 31. Jain said that the as per the condition mentioned in the MoU, the company had submitted the initial letter in December.
Along with the termination letter the company had earlier placed a claim on MCD for its pending amount of Rs 1 crore 32 lakh of the tipping fees and for due amount of Rs 2.5 crore which was spent by the company for various project implementation works.
