Durga Puja celebrations by Puja Committee Raipur commenced at junior club premises, Ordnance factory Estate, Raipur on Tuesday. The festivities began with Shashthi puja in the morning after the images were unvelied.
It was followed by Bodhan (Sthapana) Puja in the evening and the cultural programmes.
The cultural festivities began with Ganesh Vandana followed by Durga Stuti, group songs and dance performances, said the puja committee general secretary Tapas Chakraborty.
He said that the Puja being held at Raipur has got many peculiarities this year. “The principal item of the decoration is bamboo.
The lighting would be different from the previous years.
The pandal set up in a large tent is very large this year as compared to the previous years. The seating capacity has been doubled,” he said.
As no festival or Puja is complete without food many stalls have come up in the ground which are providing the typical Bengali delicacies.
Plans are afoot to provide the visitors with a mix of religious fervour and a bit of entertainment on daily basis, Chakraborty added.
