Upon receiving the latest kitty- related complaint from a group of women who demanded the amounts invested in a kitty group- allegedly run by a BJP leader- to be returned to them, the District Magistrate Deepak Rawat has forwarded it to the SSP for necessary action.
It is observed that women who have approached the DM on Monday have been left scared by the recent exposure of the kitty scams. Notably, a large number of women have been allegedly duped of around Rs 50 crore by a couple who operated a kitty group from Haridwar.
DM said, “A couple of women came to my office from Ranipur and Kankhal on Monday and requested me to ensure that their money, invested in a chit fun run by one Shivangi Tripathi under the name of Kanha group, is returned to them. They asked me to have an FIR lodged against the operator too. I have forwarded it to SSP for necessary action.” He further said that as it is not feasible to close such schemes immediately the operators are given around six months to return the money to the investors. “Besides, all the chits funds operating in the district sans registration might face action,” he added.
