DSPs to wait for some more time to get senior scale

Published on:

Deputy Superintendents of Police (Dy SPs) will have to wait some more months for getting the senior scale as the State Government has denied giving relaxation in four-year service tenure required for the senior.

The Government’s stand has also extended wait of the 17 Inspectors in queue to be elevated to the position of Dy SP.

Sources in the Police Headquarter said that a proposal was sent to the State Government to give senior scale to the 17 Deputy Superintendents of Police those completed almost four years service mandatory for getting the advantage of the senior scale.

Sources added that as per rule the Dy SPs completed four years in service are eligible to get benefit of super scale. To remove the shortage of Dy SPs in the department, Police Headquarter sent a proposal to the Government for giving super scale to the Dy SPs who have completed around three and half years and more in service by giving them relaxation in service term. The proposal was sent around two months ago.

After going through the proposal, the Home Department turned down the proposal, saying that the relaxation in the term could not be given and the Dy SPs would be given senior scale only after they complete four years in service. It has come as a blue from the bolt to the Dy SPs.

The stand has also given a setback to the Inspectors who are eager to get badge of Dy SP. Moreover, Police Headquarters has resent the file to the Home Department with a request to look into the matter as it would help in dealing with the shortage of the Dy SP in the State.

Inspector General of Police (HQ) JC Pandey said, “Our efforts are on. We have resent the proposal to the Government to give senior scale to the Dy SPs so that shortage of the Dy SP can be removed by promoting the Inspectors to the post of Dy SPs.” Inspectors would be promoted only after the Dy SPs get the senior scale.
