The spurious drug manufacturing companies are scared now with the drug department launching raids. Bhagwanpur industrial area where this business has been flourishing for years is seeing such raids in particular. With such raids on, a truck driver left spurious drugs on the road at Khelpur in Bhagwanpur area on Thursday. Two days ago, a company allegedly engaged in manufacturing spurious drugs was raided by the district administration. It is learnt that these drugs labelled as life saving drugs were being supplied to Rajasthan and some parts of Uttar Pradesh. Two persons were arrested in connection with the case. However, the owner of the company is still at large.
Another company Pharma linker which was running for the past five years in Makhanpur village of Bhagwanupur had been raided by team of health department from Jaipur earlier this week. The team had come to raid the company following a tip- off from a transporter who used to supply such drugs in Jaipur.
Speaking of the matter, drug inspector of Haridwar Vipin Kumar said, “A company Pharma linker had been making drugs for the past five years sans any license. All these medicines are life-saving drugs being churned out in the markets in the name of reputed Pharma companies. We seized such drugs and sent them to a laboratory for further testing. Prima facie, it seems to be a big spurious drugs manufacturing racket. Soon it would be busted.” He said that one Vipin Bhatnagar has some warehouses in Bhagwanpur which are under scanner. The raids are on, he added.
“On receiving the information from the villagers about the medicines found lying on the road, we called the drug department for further investigation. Two persons- the transporter and the shop owner- have been arrested in connection with the case. More arrests are on the cards,” said SHO Bhagwanpur, Bhagwan Mehar.
