Continuing with the drive against drug peddling, Dehradun police arrested one more drug peddler from GMS Road on  Thursday. Around 300 gram smacks were recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Surendra Kumar, native of Amritsar. In course of interrogation, the accused is learnt to have admitted his offence, saying  that he earlier worked in a famous saloon in Dehradun. He said he had learnt the tricks of collecting and selling smacks while in Dehradun. Currently, he is working in an Amritsar-based saloon as a manager. He  said he had met a person named Khan, native of Rajasthan, while he was in Jammu on Vaishno Devi Yatra recently.

During the conversation Khan had told him about the trade of smack in Amritsar, Dehradun and other neighbouring places. The accused said that Khan had lured him into earning money in smack trafficking activities. On the charge of carrying haishish in Jalandhar, he was sent to jail in April 2016. The accused  had carried 300 gram smack from Amritsar and reached Dehradun to complete the deal with a middle man who supplies it to the students.

Police said that the seized drugs were of  dangerous quality. “The stuff is such that one who consumes  a little of it might die,” a cop probing the case said. The accused was also interrogated by Narcotics Bureau and local intelligence unit. A case under section 8/20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against him at Vasant Vihar. He was sent to Suddhowala jail after being produced in the court on Thursday.
