A day ahead of President Pranab Mukherjee’s Uttarakhand visit, a minute to minute dress rehearsal involving the administrative officers and the policemen was held on Monday.
The President would land at Jolly Grant airport from where he is slated to fly to GTC helipad on his way to Aashiyana located on Rajpur Road where the President would stay while in Dehradun.
Administrative officers and police officers deputed on duty took part in the dress rehearsal, it is learnt. However, traffic jams ensued along the routes the fleets of VVIPs passed during the dress rehearsal, inconveniencing the commuters.
Dress rehearsal was held along the routes of Jolly Grant to GTC helipad and GTC helipad to Aashiyana. Additional DGP (law and order) AK Raturi, additional DGP (intelligence), Ashok Kumar, IG (law and order) Deepam Seth, Garhwal Range IG Sanjay Kumar Gunjyal, DM Ravinath Raman and SSP Sadanand Date were among others present during the dress rehearsal.
A briefing was held at CM’s office at New Cantt on late Monday evening with DM Raman and SSP Date directing the officials to take prompt measures to rectify the shortcomings witnessed during the dress rehearsal. The officers have been directed to be alert on their assigned duties. It has been stated that negligence of any kind on the part of the officials would not be tolerated. DM Raman has directed the police officers to turn up at the places of their duties at the exact time as fixed.
