To an exclusive question posed by The Pioneer, Minister Parrikar said, “Make in India being a mind set, the process has already begun and the results would be evident very soon.”

The role of private and public sectors in defence procurements was increased considerably to nearly 30 percent which was commendable, he said. Besides the methods of procurement had been made totally transparent, he added.

To increase the participation of academic institutions like IIT’s and other technological universities, DRDO was roping in young minds for research purposes and ensure their active participation, Parrikar further said. "Make in India is still to take off like a jet plane. It has been taking its run- way time,” he said.
