Double engine Govt a failure: Anugrah Narayan Singh

Published on:

In a barb at BJP’s ‘double engine Government’ promise, the in-charge of the Uttarakhand Congress Anugrah Narayan Singh said that the State is moving down the slippery slope under the BJP-helmed Government. He said while addressing the media persons at Nainital Club here on Thursday that the suffering of the people has increased manifolds after BJP formed the Government in the State.

“In absence of employment opportunities, the youth of Uttarakhand is migrating to other States,” he said. He alleged that the corporate houses have taken charge of the country and the Modi Government is kowtowing to their fancies.  Terming Rafale fighter plane deal as an example of the influence the corporate houses exercise on the Centre, Singh said that instead of passing on the benefit to the common people, the Union Government had offered largesse to the private companies in the deal.

In response to a question, Singh said that the law and order situation in the country is very bad with graph of murders and rapes rising rapidly.

The party state in-charge has inducted many, including Bhawna Bhatt and many former student leaders, into the party on the occasion. Singh said that the people of the country are now fed up with BJP and they are now looking to Congress for deliverance from the BJP misrule.

The leader of the opposition in the Assembly Indira Hridayesh said that the huge turnout at Nainital club is an indication which way the wind is blowing.
