Children were informed about Child line Emergency Free Phone number (1098) Service through Dosti Week organised by a private organisation held at Police lines on Saturday. Around 31 children from Shastri Nagar and Sapera Basti have participated. On the occasion, children tied a dosti band to State DGP MA Ganapathy, ADGP (administration) Ram Singh Meena and other senior police officers.
The objective is to reach out to the people from different walks of life to help them get acquainted with childline, said the organisers. Such awarness campaign will be held at 372 places across the coutnry between November 14 and Novermber 20, they added.
It is learnt that Dehradun childline is operational since November 2010. 1821 complaints were received and children were helped through Dehradun childline. This campaign will also help in eradictating fear of police among the children and they would directly contact the police in case of emergency, one of the organisers said.
