In order to implement the door to door collection of garbage properly and resolve complaints on time, the Municipal Corporation Dehradun (MCD) has started door to door garbage collection service during the evening also in few wards for now.
Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said, “We have started the service already in some wards. We will be filtering six wards within a few days. Ten door to door garbage collection vehicles will be assigned to the areas.”
Adding more in this he said, “We had a review meeting regarding the problems people have been facing in the door to door garbage collection service. As a follow up of the meeting we decided to keep the garbage collection vehicles in six wards for now. We were receiving complaints consistently from some wards about the vehicles not reaching the areas. So if the vehicle misses the area in the morning it will be covered during the evening visit.”
It is also important to mention that the maximum number of complaints registered in the MCD are regarding garbage. Even after providing more vehicles for the purpose of garbage collection, councillors and local people regularly complain of garbage not being collected efficiently from houses in 60 wards of the city.
