Doon University, Dehradun has introduced several degree and diploma courses in the new academic year 2014-15. Students seeking admission in various bachelor and post-graduation degree courses and diploma courses can submit their admission form by June 28.
However, the sale of admission prospectus in MKP (PG) College has not been started so far, though HNB Garhwal University’s academic calendar states that classes in the new academic year should be started from July 21.
The Doon University Registrar Dr BM Harbola said that the university has introduced some new courses including Master in Computer Science, MA in French, MA in Arabic, MA in Communication and Design, MSc in Mathematics, MPhil in Economics, MA in Social Anthropology, PHd in Communication and post graduation diploma in Health and Hospital Management, PG diploma in Environmental Impact Assessment, PG diploma in Security Management.
The university also offers other diploma and degree courses in foreign languages like German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese; bachelor in Mass Communication, Phd in Mass Communication, Economics, MCA, MSc (Environmental Science), MTech (Environmental Science), MBA, Phd in management among other subjects.
According to him, students seeking admission in various bachelor degree courses, post graduation degree courses and diploma degree courses can download admission prospectus from the university website or they can purchase it from the university office by June 26 and can submit it at the university office by June 28.
The sale of admission forms in Doon University had begun more than a month ago. The university will conduct its entrance test on for the degree courses on July 13. It will conduct its first counseling between July 21 and 23 on campus while the second counseling will be held between July 24 and 26. The classes in the new academic session are expected to begin from August 1, he added.
MKP (PG) College Principal Indu Singh said that college will soon start selling admission prospectus. Subjects which are available at graduation level include Sanskrit, Hindi, English, History, Mathematics, Vocal and Instrumental music and Painting in Art stream. The subjects at PG level include English, Hindi, Economics, Social Science, Political Science, Psychology, Home Science and Painting in Art Stream. Chemistry is the only subject, which is available at Post Graduation level in science stream in the college.
Following the direction of HNB Garhwal University registrar, students in the college will be enrolled on sanctioned seats and this year, college will declare its merit list but the date for this has not been finalised yet, she added.
As per university guidelines, students who had secured more than 45 per cent marks in their Class XII board examination can submit their form in the college. She further said that as per the University guidelines, classes in the college will resume from July 21.
