Dehradun Police will launch a drive for cancellation of licenses for the guns not submitted at the police stations by January 31 as directed in view of the Vidhan Sabha election 2017.
The Dehradun superintendent of police (City) Ajay Singh said that 38 licensed guns were deposited at the police stations concerned by 6 pm between January 30 and January 31.
He further said that things would be clear by Wednesday as to the number of the licensed guns not submitted in the district on the expiry of the deadline.
He said that around 60 per cent of the licensed guns have been deposited in the city. Around 20 per cent of the holders of the licensed guns might have gone to other states or have submitted applications, giving specific reasons for not submitting their guns to the police stations concerned in the district.
