Dehradun police have arrested Wakil Ahmed on Thursday after he had escaped from police custody on October 6. Ahmed was earlier arrested by the Kotwali police on the charge of carrying a weapon. He was arrested at 1.26 am on October 5. At around 11.40 am on October 6, he escaped from the custody of constable Naveen Kumar on the pretext of going to toilet. Section 224 of IPC was added in the existing FIR of 25/4 Arms Act case. Interrogation revealed that several cases were registered against Wakil in various police stations of the Dehradun district. Cases under section 401 of IPC, section 25/4 of Arms Act, section 307 of IPC and a case under section 110 g of CrPC were also lodged against him in the past. The police officer said that the accused will be sent to Suddhowala jail after being produced in the court.
