Eleven days after it broke down, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine of Doon hospital resumed its operation on Monday. The engineers who were working on the problem of the machine took four days to bring the machine in order.
The Principal Medical Superintendent (PMS) of Doon hospital Dr RS Aswal confirmed that the problem of machine is corrected and is now operational. The in-charge of the MRI machine of Doon hospital Mahendra Bhandari said that 20 MRIs were done with the machine on the first day after restoration. He said that sixty patients had registered for MRI on Monday. The MRI machine of Doon hospital is prone to malfunctioning.
On all the occasions, the leakage in helium chamber of the 1.5 Tesla machine causes it to breakdown. The team of the engineers which worked on the recent problem has reportedly asked the hospital management to monitor the machine more carefully to avoid repetition of the leakage of helium.
It is worth mentioning here the engineers working on the last gas leakage had attributed the problem to inconsistent power supply and faulty UPS. On their insistence, the hospital authorities installed 64 new batteries to the UPS to improve the power supply to the MRI machine.
