Over 2,500 patients register themselves for various OPDs

The Doon hospital witnessed a huge rush of patients on Tuesday as more than 2,500 patients registered themselves for the various Out Patient Departments (OPD) of the hospital. For last four days the patient load in the biggest hospital of state had reduced drastically due to a series of public holidays which included Dussehra and Eid. The in-charge of registration counter of Doon hospital said that only 400-600 patients visited the OPDs of the hospital in last four days.

The increased patient load on Tuesday after the holidays caused big queues at the registration counter, billing counter, OPDs, medicine distribution counter and other places of the hospital. Surendra Rawat of Balawala said that he is waiting for more than one hour at the medicine counter of the hospital. He said that the hospital authorities should increase the number of counters on the days when the patient rush is more.

The Principal Medical Superintendent (PMS) of Doon hospital Dr R S Aswal said that the number of patients do increase in the days after the festival and holidays. He said that the hospital deploys additional staff at registration and billing counter when the rush of patients increases. The Doctors of the hospital are of the view that patients do not prefer to visit hospitals during the festival season and public holidays unless it is very urgent. They informed that the additional patient load on Tuesday was on expected lines.  The hospital staff however believes that the patient flow in the hospital in the coming days would be reduced considerably due to the onset of winters which they term as healthy season.
