He enquired into the amount spent for the last year’s carnival and also into the amount that is likely to be spent this year. The committee members have been asked to fix programmes’ dates and venues.
DM also discussed about the rally to be taken out to mark the inauguration of the event. Cultural programmes and sports events to be hosted during the carnival were also taken up for discussion.
DM said that the tourists must be made interested in attending the carnival through various means. He stressed on promoters be involved in generating funds.
The district officers have been directed to see to it that this year’s Mussoorie Winterline Carnival turns a unique affair. Various states should be represented in the carnival, DM stressed.
He said that the hoteliers based in Mussoorie must provide accommodation and food for the artists who would be invited to participate in the carnival. Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam would provide transport facilities to artists from Dehradun airport to Mussoorie, he stated.
Regional tourism officer has been directed to draft a programme in coordination with additional district magistrate and sub-divisional magistrate. Next meeting for this programme would be held on November 20, DM said, adding that the event management committee, fund raising committee and publicity committee would be formed on the same day.
Among others present at the meeting were Municipal Council Mussoorie president Manmohan Singh Mall, additional DM Arvind Kumar Pandey, ADM Veer Singh Budiyal, SDM Mussoorie Meenakshi Patwal, regional tourism officer KS Rawat and members of various associations.
