Doon DEO fails to deliver voters' slips on time

The Dehradun District Election Officer has failed to implement Election Commission of India’s guidelines regarding the distribution of voters' slips to the voters. As per ECI’s direction, voter's slip should be distributed to voters five days before the polling date but this was not the case even on the eve of polling.

Many voters in Dehradun complained that they had not received their voter’s slip from Booth level Officer so far. A Government employee said that he also has not received voter’s slip a day before polling. Additional District Magistrate Sonika who has been assigned to monitor distribution of voter’s slip among voters said on Tuesday noon that as per the reports from Assistant Returning Officers, around 90 per cent voters' slips had been distributed and expressed hope that Booth level Officers will be able to distribute the remaining slips by Tuesdayevening. It has been observed that when BlOs reach voter’s house then they don’t find anyone in the house in some cases. Under such circumstances, they have no option but to return back without delivering the slip.
