Dehradun Police are yet to make headway towards solving the murders of two women by unidentified persons at their respective homes in broad daylight within a span of a week.

Police have not found concrete leads from questioning suspects apparently involved in these crimes. In these murder cases, the police have still not been able to ascertain the motive. In order to work out these two cases, several police teams have been formed and they have been deployed at different places to nab the culprits.

More than a week after a 70-year-old woman relative of IG RS Meena, was murdered in her house at Sewla Kalan, Majra area under Patel Nagar Police Station area, the cops are yet to get any clue regarding this crime even though several persons have been questioned by the police.

In the murder case of Neeru Saini, several police teams were formed and they have been deployed but police have not found concerned leads from questioning the suspects so far. The police teams who were sent to Uttarkashi and Roorkee for questioning suspects also returned back empty handed.

Sources said that in Uttarkashi, police came to know that SK Saini, husband of the deceased who was Government contractor had yet to pay wages to labourers. Saini and his family who had left Uttarkashi six months ago had rented accommodation at Tegh Bahadur road under Dalanwala police station area in the State capital.

Police are also investigating the possibility of extra marital relationship fueling this crime. Two murders within a week during daylight hint a deteriorating law and order in Dehradun. Investigators are questioning the relatives of the woman. Critics opine that the murder of the 70-year-old woman Rajesh Sharma last Saturday and 40-year-old woman Neeru Saini on Tuesday within a span of four days in the state capital has sent shock waves across the state capital, posing questions on the safety of women and senior citizens who live alone in their home.

These cases have also exposed district police’s claim about reducing crimes. Police should take measures to restore lost confidence among the people. However, the citizens complain that they still do not see the police patrolling the city either in the daytime or in the night. late at night the police vehicles simply pass through various localities with their siren blaring as if to warn miscreants to hide.
