Doon auto drivers against ban on diesel autos

Published on:

Members of the auto- rickshaw unions slammed the State Government for its decision to ban diesel autos plying on the city roads and replace it with battery- operated vehicles to minimise pollution. According to Doon Auto Rickshaw Union, the legality of the decision is questionable and discriminatory against them.  While interacting with the media, Pankaj Arora, leader, Doon Auto Rickshaw Union, said, “The decision by the RTA is discriminatory and acting against auto rickshaws which offer economical public transportation to the common people. It is one-sided and taken only against the diesel auto rickshaws while there is a lot of other diesel vehicles freely plying in the city and creating more pollution than our autos.”
