The High Court issued notice on Saturday to all the candidates who contested the  Assembly election-2017 from Doiwala constituency, including Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, while hearing a  petition filed by Hema Purohit, whose nomination had been rejected by the returning officer citing absence of her signature in the nomination papers.

She in her petition said that she had not been given time to correct the mistakes.  The petitioner has made Doiwala MlA and Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat  and 11 others, including the Election Commission, as parties involved. She had demanded that the election be cancelled and appropriate action be taken against the RO concerned who had cancelled her nomination summarily. The High Court has fixed  May 29 as the next date of hearing of the case.

Talking to 'The Pioneer', Hema Purohit said that neither the Election commission of India  nor the  Election Commission Uttarakhand had considered her appeal. " later, the ECI suggested that I could challenge  the matter in  the court within 45 days as per the rule.  As the election  result was declared on March 11 the period of the matter being challenged in the court was till April 24. I   approached HC on April 21. The court admitted my case on April 22. Now, the next hearing would be held  on May 29," she said.
